Preboarding

Period between offer-accept and start date.

Preboarding is the most under-invested phase in HR. Candidates are excited, available, and a competing offer is the highest risk. A preboarding flow keeps them engaged: welcome message, manager intro video, equipment ordered, paperwork started, team intro on Slack.

Companies with a structured preboarding flow report 6–12 percentage points lower offer-acceptance reneges in the 2–6 week window before start date.
