Hiring Bias

Systematic deviation from accurate assessment of candidates.

Common forms: affinity bias, halo, anchoring, similarity. Mitigated by structured interviews, anonymised review, calibration, and diverse panels.

The strongest evidence is structural: process changes outperform awareness training in every controlled study. Independent scoring before debate is the single highest-leverage intervention.
